DIY Outdoor Storage Benches
Outdoor storage benches – Decide if you want to open or closed storage for your bench. If you want open storage, then you will need to build “cubbies” for each set of shoes on the front of the mud bench. For closed storage, you need to build a place that is hinged to open. If you paint or stain, do this before installing, because when the bench is compiled, it is more difficult to paint the corners.
Add to the bottom of inch thick plywood that is weather treated. Screw the sides and back, turn right side up. If the bench designed using closed outdoor storage benches, you need to build a front of the bench instead of “cubbies”. After the sides are screwed to the back, attach the front in the same way. Turn the bench over and screw the bottom on, then turn right side up.
To attach the outdoor storage benches seat cover, screw two to three hinges along the back of the bench and also along the rear edge of the seat. Test to make sure the lid is opened and closed properly, make adjustments if necessary. A well fitting bench should be flat against the bench frame and not be wobbly or skewed.
